Synopsis

A few hours to reach the summit of Monte Cimone, then almost three days on the ridge. A path immersed in nature but also in history, and with several surprises to discover.

From Trentino, passing through Fanano or Sestola, and following the signs for the ski resorts, you can reach Lake Ninfa by car, turning right onto the road that leads to the winter resort of Passo del Lupo. Then you cross the forest that leads to the presence of the Cimone and through the paths begins the climb to the summit. From the highest peak of our Apennines you descend towards Cimoncino, then further on to the Libro Aperto, one of the most characteristic peaks of the ridge. Here is the setting up of the camp for the first night in a tent. At dawn the departure towards the Passo della Croce Arcana and the short descent to Capanna Tassoni; between the refuge and the pass, the setting up of the camp for the second night. At the first light of the third day the longest stage, even if almost totally downhill. Monte Spigolino, Lake Pratignano and Sentiero della Pace up to the town of Trignano, crossing the Gothic Line, the front between the Germans and the Allied forces in the last months of the Second World War.
