Synopsis
More than fifty of them met, including young people, children, adults and the elderly, and walked together, kept time , sang a song that speaks of them and the prodigy of a river.
The river is the Rhine; Coming together are the members of the community that was born, grew up and thrived around these shores. For 800 years, the Rhine, allowing itself to be enveloped by the Lock, has given everyone the water they need to live, to move, to produce.
This is why the Casalecchio Dam, in addition to being the oldest hydraulic engineering work in Europe among those still in operation, distributing the essential good to everyone, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for Peace. The Chiusa is the right place for a community to meet: to return to understanding what Peace means, and how it is done.
A river. Procession and Community Song is a social laboratory, a performance, a video.
It takes inspiration from the "Nelken Line" by the German choreographer Pina Bausch, from her procession of the seasons, depicted with four small gestures, easy to transmit and learn, easy so that no one is prevented from dancing, from there all the participants – children, young people, adults and the elderly – departed. Pina says: "It's not important how people move, but what moves them."
At the pace, our 50 and more have added an original song, a canon to intertwine voices and mark the agreed time , that time in common that must be respected, if you want to make community. The text of the canon is inspired by what Siddhartha, in Hesse's story, understands by observing the flowing river: the inestimable value of the present time .
Thus the cyclical and infinite time of the sky, the limited and precious time of our lives, the historical time of the ancient Chiusa and the difficult, indecipherable time of today, all agree in time, in the step and in the sounds of a river.
Procession and community singing.
