Synopsis

Between history and literature, between anthropology and the environment, between music and painting, the film recounts events ranging from the spring of 1944 to April of the following year with the liberation of Parma by the partisan formations.

Freely inspired by the novel of the same name by Ubaldo Bertoli published for the first time in 1961, the documentary tells the story of a Garibaldian partisan brigade (the 47th) active during the war of Liberation in the territories of Val d'Enza and Val Parma.

The story, divided into five seasonal chapters (spring, summer, autumn, winter, spring again), develops on different levels: the images of the places where the events took place and the surrounding nature, the voices of the witnesses who experienced the facts firsthand, the literary passages and paintings of Bertoli himself.
